Marienlyst Castle Tea Pavilion
Helsingør, Denmark, 2019

Marienlyst Castle was the summer castle of the Danish king in 17th hundred. Its main purpose was its surroundings that included the woods, the sea, a renaissance garden and a big vegetable garden. Today the castle has no purpose which is mainly because of the lack of purpose from the surroundings. Therefore I saw it necessary to actviate it by making a vegetable and flower garden, that one could enjoy, learn from and later dine og drink tea in. Therefore is added a tea pavilion in the front yard and lanndscaped a garden around it. My purpose with this project is to show how a small intervention without touching the actual castle can activate and repurpose it. Therefore leaving the castle untouched and beautiful as it is is while framing it and giving it a new context and meaning.
